In this communication, we’re taking a closer look at a powerful GCPay feature you might not know about—but could really benefit from.
Make GCPay Work Your Way
Every construction project has its own requirements. Customizable project settings help you configure GCPay to fit the way your business and individual projects operate, rather than forcing every project into the same workflow.
For your finance, project accounting, and project management teams, this provides several practical benefits:
Standardize project setup: Configure naming conventions, folder structures, statuses, permissions, approval workflows, and other defaults so your teams can manage projects consistently from the start.
Match different project requirements: A commercial building, infrastructure project, or renovation may require different workflows, roles, documentation, and controls. Project-level settings help you accommodate those differences.
Reduce repetitive administration: Reusable configurations and defaults reduce the amount of manual setup your project teams need to perform.
Improve data quality: Required fields, controlled values, and standardized workflows help keep project information consistent and easier to report on.
Control access and responsibilities: Settings can help determine which users or roles can view, create, edit, approve, or manage project information.
Support project-specific workflows: Configure processes for SOV, Applications for Payment, ePayments, and other project activities to better match your team's workflow.
Scale organizational practices: Establish common standards across your organization while giving individual projects the flexibility to address unique requirements.
Customizable construction financial software helps you tailor workflows to specific project needs. By aligning GCPay with the way your teams work, you can streamline tasks, reduce manual errors, improve collaboration, and support more consistent project management. Ultimately, customization can support better project management by helping your teams tailor templates, reports, and integrations to the way your business operates.
Project Settings are created within GCPay to give you more control over how you manage subcontractors on each project. One of the simplest, yet most impactful, setting is the billing period. GCPay allows you to select a bill due date by choosing any specific day of the month or the “last day of the month.” This can help you align subcontractor invoices with your other AP invoices or standardize pay applications across multiple projects and subcontractors.
You can also make it easier for your subcontractors to manage their payments by requiring them to enter values for their vendors. This helps ensure subcontractor pay applications appropriately account for downstream supply costs. To speed up the subcontract process, you can also make changes to schedules of values, Applications for Payment, or change orders and send them directly to the subcontractor for approval. This gives you more control over the timing of the process instead of making your workflow dependent on each subcontractor’s timeline.
Project settings can change throughout the year as new features and enhancements become available. Visit GCPay Client Central to review software feature release notes and stay up to date on the latest enhancements.
