In this communication, we take a deeper dive into a valuable GCPay feature you may not be familiar with, but could greatly benefit from!

Why Digital Notarization is Gaining Ground in Construction

Currently, construction contracts, change orders, payment applications, and preliminary notices do not legally need to be notarized anywhere. Notices of commencement, lien waivers, notice of intent, and mechanics' liens vary depending on the state. Owners of construction projects have the authority to require notarization on documents as needed though.

GCPay has seen more notary usage which makes it a good time to remind users that this time-consuming behavior is greatly simplified within GCPay thanks to a partnership with Notarize.com. With the recent acquisition by Proof, the interface may look different for Notarize.com, but the process for GCPay users remains the exact same.

With Proof notarization services, subcontractors can eliminate the hassle of arranging mobile notaries and shipping documents overnight. The average meeting time on the Proof platform is six minutes and documents can be shared digitally, so your subs can complete notarizations more quickly than ever before.

Here are just a few stats from Proof’s notarization service:

Proofs Notarization Service Stats

Subcontractors can enjoy the speed of the digital notary feature with an average of 400 documents (30% more than 2023) currently being notarized within GCPay each month. Payment control waivers eliminate the need for subcontractors to repeatedly notarize waivers when pay applications are rejected, allowing them to notarize only once—when a pay application is approved.

Reminder: Subcontractors are required to upload notarized documents into GCPay. The new digital signature feature, which allows document removal, cannot be used in this case.
