Construction is one of the most heavily regulated industries. Beyond the contractual agreements between the general contractor and subcontractors, construction firms need to consider building codes, insurance and bonding requirements, credit and background checks, lien requirements, many safety regulations, and much more.
Many contractors are faced with managing larger, more complex projects regularly. That means they have even more to track in their already busy schedules. These are a lot of hoops to jump through to ensure a successful end product. Any one of these issues falling through the cracks can bring work screeching to a halt while it is addressed. It can also present a significant risk to the contractor via penalties, lawsuits, or other conflicts.
While setting up approval/routing workflows to establish an automated process in GCPay, users can also establish a checklist of required documents required with each submission. GCPay users can customize just how they require documents from subcontractors on individual projects. First, in Project Settings, identify the Compliance Required Documents, or Check List items you would like to require from subcontractors on a particular project. Then, it’s important to know which role/permission is set up to add required documents so they can begin doing so for each pay app submitted. Required Documents and Required Check List Items are typically set up by Admins, Accounting, Compliance Officer(s), and Lien Officer(s) at the company level, and Editors and Reviewers at the project level.
If something is missing, subcontractors will automatically see an error in their pay application submission that reminds them what they still need to include so they can complete all requirement before being able to submit the application. This feature helps GCs manage documentation automatically without having to communicate to each sub on every pay app for all projects to keep the documentation current.
